The World of Science was recognized by Computer Current Links as the science
site of the week. Here is their review:
The World
of Science has science news briefs, in-depth articles, and biographies
of famous scientists. There is a good collection of links to magazines
and journals in chemistry, biology, physics, and other sciences. Users
can participate in discussions on science topics. Teachers may be interested
in the online testing program. The site also has recommended books and
a science gift store.
01/01/2000:
We faced no problems with the host computers. Netscape is not Y2K
bug free. Once the year turned to 2000, netscape's date became 01/01/100!!!
I.E. 4.0 and higher was not affected by Y2K. Version 3.1 of The World of
Science was introduced to deal with some of the Y2K bugs of netscape.
12/25/99: A new
and "high tech" discussion
board was installed.
12/19/99: The
World of Science was moved to yet a faster webhost.
09/07/99: The
World of Science was recognized as New Scientist site of the day for TUESDAY,
SEPTEMBER 7, 1999. Here is the review given by New Scientist:
The World
of Science -- If you have something to say about a science subject the
site's creators are on the look out for contributions, there's a discussion
area, a bookstore, an online testing centre for teachers. Also, included
is HotTob an online science journal offering alternative views on the likes
of quantum theory and relativity and you can learn all you need to know
about Excimer Laser Angioplasty. Science is not just a subject, it is a
universe and imagineering is the art or science of using imagination to
intuitively make practical applications from knowledge, so now you know.

Testing Center and E-cards became new features of theworldofscience.com
06/20/99: HotTob
science journal became a new feature at The World of Science.
06/15/99:
theworldofscience.com went public and became available to all the science
lovers.
06/5/99:
theworldofscience.com domain name was bought by Ali Javey.
07/01/98:
The World of Science web site was placed at UVa.'s server. The site
received a new design. The new designed used frames. Background
was black and text color was white.
04/07/97:
The World of Science web site was first created by Ali Javey. The
design had a black background and text colors of red and green. The
site at that time did not have a domain name and was hosted in GeoCities. |
